Accelerated Chemistry I is a demanding course that involves critical thinking and problem solving. Throughout the course you will be asked to analyze data, draw conclusions, process new information, and build your own understanding of chemistry concepts. Only after you have investigated new ideas will you discuss them formally. The model we will be using in class is - engage, explore, explain, evaluate. You will be asked to analyze common occurrences such as melting ice cubes and burning candles in order to understand the chemical processes that allow them to occur. You will analyze the relationship between macroscopic properties and microscopic structures, which in turn will help you to gain a better understanding of the world around you, …show more content…
RESPECT: Golden Rule - Treat others the way you want to be treated. I will always treat you with respect and courtesy; therefore, I expect that you will treat me, and your classmates, with respect and courtesy. Disruptive and unkind behavior will NEVER be tolerated in this classroom. 2. ATTITUDE: Always have a positive attitude. Remember success is 10% ability and 90% attitude! If you think that you can achieve, then you can achieve. 3. Always PRESENT: Students who are in class regularly do better in school; this is a fact. Make every effort to be in school every day. If you are absent, you have the number of school days you were absent plus one to turn in missed work. When you return to school, your missed work will be located in the Absentee folder bin. It is your responsibility to get your make-up work and turn it in on time. If you need an extension due to a long illness or other extenuating circumstance, please ask prior to the due date. 4. Arrive PREPARED: Be in your seat when the bell rings, and start working on the Do Now, otherwise you are considered LATE. The consequence of lateness is an after school detention assigned by the main office. Students who are repeatedly late lose credit for the class (as per the student
Arrive on time for each on-campus class (and for exams) since entering late can disrupt others;
This category is primarily characterized by students who are struggling with time management, and therefore, are constantly having difficulty getting to class on time. Despite the fact that they may be occasionally tardy, these students often have excellent attendance and show a willingness to learn. Unlike the high school students, it appears that these students show less of a concern with social interaction and are more concerned with getting to and from their classes.
First I will discuss how you should try to always be on time to your classes and a way to do so. This year I tried my hardest to never be tardy and always be on time. In the hallways on the way to my next class, I would not talk to my peers as much as others. I am saying, do not waste the five minutes you
Socially merciful- The “Golden Rule” treat others as you want to be treated. Treat all humans with the dignity and respect that they deserve, regardless of race, creed or socioeconomic status.
As an electrical engineer, my father often looks to take on problems that very few know how to solve. He has found that the fear of failure in people commonly conquers their ambition. It frequently suppresses a person from even attempting a challenge, and he or she yields. For my father, however, he has trained his mind to separate his fear of a problem from his actions. Where he recognizes his fear but momentarily silences it in order to accept a challenge. This mentality in his life has taught him to confront fear, divvy it up into micro fears through a plan, and then utilize them as motivation every day. Over time, as he slowly solves hard problems and experiences little euphoric feelings of success, these feelings begin to become addictive. This addiction builds upon itself, and gradually his battles with the prospect of failure have become easier and easier. He believes, in addition, that the sensation he feels from challenging himself and then accomplishing a challenge—despite his fears—plays a large role in helping him to ignore instantaneous feelings, such as drugs and alcohol, which in turn could short circuit his natural happiness.
Be Respectful to others. Respecting everyone for themselves is a rule that each person should follow daily. Not a single person is any better than you, and people just don’t understand this. You should have respect for your teachers, elders, and even younger kids. Respect is a positive trait to have. In the book “Thirteen Reasons Why” Clay respect Hannah for the courage she had to make the tapes and tell what her secrets and feelings were through the tapes. He respected Hannah even when she was in her darkest time. He comforted her when she was crying that night at the party. Clay wanted to be with Hannah and help her through the tough times, but he didn’t understand what was going on in her head. Also in The Kite Runner Hassan had a respect for Amir even though Amir had lied and told that he stole the money. Hassan and Amir had respect and friendship that lasted for
Another point is to be “respectful towards others” (Palmer, 2015) no matter what situation you are in, always be mindful, and treat others the way you want them to treat you,. Always be respectful and say yes mam and no sir when asked questions.
3) Your Ambition – (Be aware the road is not easy, remain hungry for success, and be ready to persevere at any time)
Classes begin promptly each morning at 8:00 a.m. If a student is NOT seated in a desk by class time he/she is tardy.

Seeing the tardiness of the student our teacher remarked, “Mr. Tuma. I am so glad your parents taught you punctuality. ”
You are also expected to arrive to class on time. Chronic lateness and unscheduled early departures are unacceptable behavior. If you are more than 20 minutes late to class, you will be marked late. If you are late 3 times, it equals one absence. If you leave without notice, you will be marked
Mrs. Sorrell’s AP Chemistry: August 2015- May 2016. The big idea 3: chemical reactions were a blast for me. I enjoyed how the teacher engaged the students in labs that corresponded with this topic. During labs, I understood the different chemicals and the reactions from the mixtures. This chemistry class was imperative for the preparation for the projects, labs, tests, and the AP exam. These projects, labs, tests, and AP exam gave me the tools needed to tackle challenging problems in this chemistry class and take these challenges beyond the classroom. Learning how to apply the basic concepts of chemistry into the most complex problems of chemistry and learning how to solve the tasks was demanding for me. I learned how to become more independent
Attendance, participation and attitude: Students are allowed to miss class only once per quarter without affecting the grade. If you miss 2 times (or you are marked as late/left early 3 times) and are willing to make up for your absence, please inform your instructor. I will assign
