CJUS 702 week 2 Abstract   Juvenile Delinquency has no boundaries; this issue affects all races, genders, creeds, and even economic statuses. The effects are, in many cases, the same; where the line is drawn is the disproportionate rate of Delinquency based on a juvenile neighborhood, school, and family circumstances. This essay will discuss some factors that affect and influence youth toward juvenile Delinquency. The unpredictability of the juvenile justice system will also be discussed.  No formulas or crystal balls can predict whether a child will become a juvenile delinquent; researchers and educated guesses are the most utilized tools. This resulted from the justice system wanting to approach the actions of a juvenile not necessarily as a crime but instead as a misguided action that needs direction and guidance to teach them how to make wise decisions in the future. (Cox et al., 2022, p. 15) This is where the criminal justice system and scholars created a separate court, known as a family court, to address these offenders using alternative approaches to punishment, leaning more in an educational direction to address the issue holistically.          Family relationships and effects on juvenile Delinquency Family plays a significant role when it comes to juvenile Delinquency. Youth begin learning from the time they are born. Children as young as toddlers can make decisions regarding their behavior based on what and how the adults in their lives teach them. Just as the family can positively affect a child's development, the opposite is just as influential. If a child is raised in a 3
