What are the benefits of conducting a descriptive assessment on your study behaviors? Please describe the differences between indirect and direct methods of Assessment. Please include 2 examples of each in your response. Please answer each question entirely. Minimum of 200 words, and respond to a minimum of 2 additional peers for full credit. Cooper,Heron, Heward, (2019) explain that a descriptive assessment is part of an FBA that involves directly observing behaviors during naturally occurring, everyday life conditions. The benefits of conducting a descriptive assessment on my study behavior would be to identify events that may be correlated with the target behavior. In my case, the target behavior would be reaching a higher AIM in SAFMEDS each day I run trials, or how high my score is on assessments. For instance, I could write ABC data and record the antecedents of a behavior (example myself working on SAFMEDS, listening to music). A description of the behavior that occurred (I begin dancing and no longer completing my studying for SAFMEDS) and the consequence that follows the behavior (my goal work was stopped/interrupted, I escaped finishing, got a low score).Using this assessment will provide a source and function of my natural behaviors. Additionally, this tells me what works for me in my environment and what doesn’t. According to Cooper, Heron, Heward(2019) Indirect assessments are methods used that do not involve direct observation of a behavior or client but rather information based on others explanations of the behavior. This can be things such as structured interviews, checklist, rating scales, or questionnaires to gather information from individuals who are familiar with the person
of interest (person presenting the behaviors) to identify possible cofounding variables in the natural environment. Example | When intaking a potential client for enrollment in your center, we interview the client's parents without the client being present. Usually asking questions about the behaviors they’ve seen, reinforcers, likes, dislikes, scales of magnitude of behaviors, precursors, open and closed ended etc. Direct Assessments are methods that directly involve the client. This could be things such as test or direct observation because the results from these procedures provide measurable and validated information about a learners behavior. Example| A BCBA preforms a VBMAP assessment on a client to make decisions and set priorities on task and curriculum in order to meet a child’s educational needs. References: Cooper, J. O., Heron, T.
