Abstract The purpose of this proposal is to provide an outline for a professional development that is designed to support students with autism using assistive technology. Included in this proposal outline is information regarding an overview of autism spectrum disorders, an introduction to assistive technology, the continuum of assistive technology and examples of low-tech assistive technology for students with autism. In addition, this proposal contains information on effective assistive listening devices that can be implemented in the instructional setting. Participants will gain an understanding of how to effectively support students with autism in the general education by implementing assistive technology. The related goals, objectives, timeframes, purpose of activities, as well as materials needed are provided.
