Greenville, county (797 sq mi/2,064 sq km; 1990 pop. 320,167), NW S.C.; Greenville; 34°53'N 82°22'W. Bounded N by N.C. line, W by Saluda R.; drained by Enoree and Reedy rivers. Mfg. (esp. cotton textiles; also granite, sand, and gravel) in Greenville and its surrounding mill villages; agr. includes dairying; hogs, cattle; tomatoes, corn, wheat, soybeans, sorghum, hay, peaches. Summer resort area, with part of the Blue Ridge in N. Formed 1786.
