Globe, town (1990 pop. 6,062), Gila co., E central Ariz., 73 mi/117 km E of Phoenix; 33°22'N 110°45'W. Elev. 3,541 ft/1,079 m. Pinal Mts. to SW. Mining and ranching area. Settled 1876 as silver-mining center, developed as one of largest copper-producing centers in U.S. Copper, silver, gold mines in vicinity; cattle, hogs; mfg. (printing and publishing).
