| Cabinet Gorge Reservoir (12 sq mi/31 sq km), Sanders co., NW Mont., on Clark Fork and Thompson Fork of Pend Oreiller R., in Kaniksu Natl. Forest bet. Cabinet Mts. and Bitterroot Range, 28 mi/45 km SSW of Libby; 47°58'N 115°44'W. Max. capacity 400,000 acre-ft. Formed by Noxon Rapids Dam (170 ft/52 m high), built (1960) by U.S. Forest Service for power generation; also used for recreation. |
