Extends NE; has 2 arms: North Fork (c.15 mi/24 km long) and South Fork. Max. capacity 1,000,000 acre-ft. Formed by Folsom Dam (268 ft/82 m), built by U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for irrigation, power production, and flood control. Surrounded by Folsom L. State Recreation Area.
