Dajabón (dah-hah-BON), province (344 sq mi/890 sq km; 1993 pop. 63,995), NW Dominican Republic, on Haiti border; Dajabón; 19°30'N 71°35'W. Drained by Massacre R., and on N flank of Cordillera Central. Main prods.: rice, coffee, corn, fruit; stock, hides; beeswax, honey; timber. Highway to Haiti. The area was heavily disputed during struggles against Spain and Haiti. Formerly part of Monte Cristi prov.; set up 1938 as a separate prov. Formerly called Libertador prov.
