Bylot Island
 
 
Bylot Island (4,968 sq mi/12,867 sq km), E Franklin dist., N.W.T., N Canada, in the Arctic Ocean, off N Baffin Isl.; 90 mi/145 km long, 60 mi/97 km–70 mi/113 km wide; 72°49'–73°53'N 76°20'–81°00'W; bounded E by Baffin Bay, separated from Baffin Isl. by Pond Inlet, Eclipse Sound, and Navy Board Inlet, and from Devon Isl. (NW) by Lancaster Sound. Mainly an ice-covered plateau, rising to c.2,000 ft/610 m; Mt. Thule (S) rises to c.6,600 ft/2,012 m. On S coast are several spring and summer Eskimo camps.
