Daiquirí (dei-kee-REE), village, Santiago de Cuba prov., E Cuba, on the Caribbean Sea, 14 mi/23 km ESE of Santiago de Cuba; 19°52'N 75°38'W. Copper and iron deposits nearby. In Spanish-American War, U.S. troops landed at nearby Siboney. Allegedly, the name of the famous rum drink derives from here.
