East Carroll, parish (432 sq mi/1,119 sq km; 1990 pop. 9,709), extreme NE La.; Lake Providence; 32°49'N 91°11'W. Bounded E by the Mississippi R., W by Bayou Macon, N by Ark. line, in Delta region. Source of Tensas R. Agr. (cotton, corn, sorghum, home gardens, rice, soybeans, wheat, pecans; cattle); logging. Bayou Macon State Wildlife Area in NW. Named after James Carroll, signer of the Declaration of Independence. Formed 1877.
