Crookston, town (1990 pop. 8,119), Polk co., NW Minn., 24 mi/39 km SE of Grand Forks, N.Dak., on Red L. R.; 47°46'N 96°36'W. Elev. 867 ft/264 m. RR junction, trade center and shipping point in agr. area (grain, sugar beets, potatoes, sunflowers; livestock; dairying); mfg. (food processing, concrete pipe, machinery, printing and publishing). Univ. of Minn.–Crookston Campus. Stock and produce show takes place annually. Settled 1872, inc. 1879.
