Farming (tobacco, corn, sweet potatoes; cattle, hogs); fishing, timber. Beach resorts along coast. Intracoastal Waterway canal parallels coast and passes through Cape Fear R. estuary to Carolina Beach Inlet. Mfg. at Leland. Brunswick 1 and 2 Nuclear Power Plants located at Southport. Town burned by British (1776), 60 excavated bldg. sites, Brunswick Town State Historical Site. Sunny Point Army Base in E.
