Brandon, uninc. city (29 sq mi/75 sq km; 1990 pop. 57,985), Hillsborough co., W central Fla., 10 mi/16 km E of Tampa; 27°55'N 82°17'W. Chiefly a residential suburb, it is also a retail and service center. Experienced significant developmental and pop. growth, particularly due to the construction of new highways connecting it to other Fla. urban centers. Citrus fruits and vegetables are grown in the area, which also has cattle and dairy farms.
