Haileybury, town (1991 pop. 4,962), Timiskaming dist., E Ont., central Canada, on L. Timiskaming, 80 mi/129 km N of North Bay. Distributing and residential center for rich mining region, with pulp, lumber milling. Ski resort. Airfield. Silver, gold, cobalt are mined in immediate vicinity. Site of mining school.
