Ambridge, borough (1990 pop. 8,133), Beaver co., W Pa., 15 mi/24 km NW of downtown Pittsburgh, on the Ohio R. (bridged); 40°35'N 80°13'W. Founded by and named for the Amer. Bridge Co. in 1901. Mfg. (plastics, processed food, furniture fixtures, fabricated metal prods.). On the NW edge of town is Old Economy Village, 17 restored bldgs. of Ger. communal group (18241906). Inc. 1905.
