| Chaptico (chap-TEE-ko), village, St. Marys co., S Md., 10 mi/16 km NW of Leonardtown. Named for an Indian tribe that lived in the area, it was the hqs. of a revolution against Lord Baltimore led by John Goode in 1689. Christ Church (c.1737) was one of original churches of Md. |
