Granite Falls, town (1990 pop. 3,083), Chippewa and Yellow Medicine cos., SW Minn., at falls on Minnesota R., 13 mi/21 km SE of Montevideo;  Yellow Medicine co.; 44°48'N 95°32'W. Elev. 892 ft/272 m. RR junction; trade center in agr. area (grain, sugar beets, soybeans, alfalfa; livestock); mfg. (granite aggregates, machinery, transportation equip., printing and publishing). Hydroelectric plant here. Upper Sioux Indian Reservation and Upper Sioux Agency State Park and Monument to SE.
