| Disenchantment Bay (20 mi/32 km long), SE Alaska, at head of Yakutat Bay, 20 mi/32 km NE of Yakutat; 60°N 139°32'W. Russell Fiord extends 35 mi/56 km SSE from head of bay. Named by Ital. navigator and explorer Alessandro Malaspina, in the service of Spain, 1791, when it proved not to be the Northwest Passage he was seeking. |
