Hagerstown Valley
 
 
Hagerstown Valley, N Md. The valley and ridge extend approximately 65 mi/105 km W from South Mt. and Elk Ridge (E) to Dans (local name for the Allegheny front), Powell, and Fairview mts. (W). The 2 distinct subdivisions of the region are the Valley-Ridge sect. and the Great Appalachian Valley, also known as Hagerstown Valley in Md., Shenandoah Valley in Va., and Cumberland Valley in Pa. The 2 rivers draining into Hagerstown Valley are the Antietam to the E and Conococheague to the W.
