Branson, city (1990 pop. 3,706), Taney co., SW Mo.; 36°38'N 93°15'W. Primarily residential and commercial, the city’s economic mainstay is its country-music industry, which began rapid growth in the 1970s. With over 30 entertainment theaters, Branson draws millions of tourists annually. Fishing, boating, swimming on adjacent L Taneycomo and Table Rock L. Mfg. (meat processing, printing; sand and gravel). Nearby is the Col. of the Ozarks. Silver Dollar City theme park to N. Shepherd of the Hills Mus. Inc. 1904.
