Asotin (uh-SOT-in), county (640 sq mi/1,658 sq km; 1990 pop. 17,605), extreme SE Wash.; Asotin; 46°11'N 117°11'W. Plateau and rolling hill area rising to Blue Mts. in SW and bordering Oregon on S. Watered by Grande Ronde R. and by Joseph, Asotin, and George creeks. Bounded by Snake R. on E and part of N, forms Idaho state boundary on E. Agr. (alfalfa, hay, wheat, barley; timber). Part of Umatilla Natl. Forest, including small part of Wenaha-Tucannon Wilderness Area, in W; Chief Timothy State Park in N; Fields Spring State Park in S. Formed 1883.
