Clare (KLER), county (575 sq mi/1,489 sq km; 1990 pop. 24,952), central Mich.; Harrison; 43°59'N 84°50'W. Drained by Muskegon, Tobacco, and Cedar rivers. Cattle, hogs, sheep; forage crops; dairy prods.; wheat, oats, soybeans, potatoes, corn, beans. Some mfg. at Clare. Many lakes, especially in SW; resorts. Wilson State Park and Snowsnake Ski Area in center, and Mott Mt. Ski Area in S. Organized 1871.
