Easthampton
 
 
Easthampton (ees-TAM-tuhn), town (1990 pop. 15,537), Hampshire co., W Mass.; 42°16'N 72°40'W. It is primarily a mfg. town with diversified light industry including plastics, chemicals, furniture parts and cleaning items. Easthampton was settled as early as 1664. In the 1820s the town’s textile industry was founded by Samuel Williston; a preparatory school there was later named for him. Includes village of Mt. Tom (site of state park and ski area). Inc. 1809.
