Beaver Falls
 
 
Beaver Falls, city (1990 pop. 10,687), Beaver co., W Pa., 27 mi/43 km NW of Pittsburgh, on falls of the Beaver R., 4 mi/6.4 km N of its junction with the Ohio; 40°45'N 80°19'W. A steel center in an area of coal mines, natural-gas deposits, and clay pits, it is known for its cold-drawn steel. Mfg. (food prods., primary metals, clay prods., fabricated metal prods., chinaware). Agr. (alfalfa; livestock; dairying).The plates for U.S. currency are made here. The city was founded on a Native Amer. trail that later became a pioneer road. Geneva Col. is here; Beaver Co. Airport to NW; Beaver Falls Historical Society Mus. Settled c.1793, inc. 1868.
