Edgefield, county (506 sq mi/1,311 sq km; 1990 pop. 18,375), W S.C.; Edgefield; 33°46'N 81°58'W. Bounded SW by Savannah R.; includes part of Sumter Natl. Forest. Some mfg. of textiles. Sparsely settled agr. region known for cotton, peaches; chickens, eggs, hogs, cattle, dairying; corn, wheat, rye, oats, soybeans, sorghum, hay. Some mfg. textiles. Formed 1785.
