Dubuque, county (616 sq mi/1,595 sq km; 1990 pop. 86,403), E Iowa, bounded E by Mississippi R. (forms Wis. and Ill. lines here); Dubuque; 42°28'N 90°53'W. Prairie agr. area (hogs, cattle; corn, oats) drained by North Fork Maquoketa R.; lead and zinc deposits around Dubuque city; many limestone quarries. Lock and Dam No. 11 at Dubuque city. Flooding on Mississippi R. and tributaries occurred in 1993. Formed 1834.
