Bad Axe, city (1990 pop. 3,484), Huron co., E Mich., c.55 mi/89 km NE of Saginaw; 43°47'N 83°00'W. RR junction and trade center for agr. area (beans, sugar beets, grain; livestock); mfg. (machinery, plastic prods.). Municipal airport. Nearby is 19th-cent. Jewish agr. colony of Palestine, which failed. Settled c.1860; inc. as village 1885, as city 1905.
