| Espíritu Santo Island (es-PEE-ree-too SAHN-to), (43 sq mi/111 sq km), in Gulf of California, off E coast of Baja California, NW Mexico, 16 mi/26 km N of La Paz; 7.5 mi/12.1 km long, 2 mi/3.2 km–5 mi/8 km wide; rises to 1,886 ft/575 m. Uninhabited. Of volcanic origin; desert climate. Surrounding sea has oysters and pearls. |
