Badin Lake, reservoir (8 sq mi/20.7 sq km), on Montgomery (E)/Stanly (W) co. border, central N.C., on Yadkin R., 30 mi/48 km ESE of Kannapolis; 35°26'N 80°05'W. Max. capacity 142,800 acre-ft. Formed by Yadkin Narrows Dam (196 ft/60 m high), built (1917) for power generation. Uwharrie Natl. Forest to E. The reservoir is part of a large system including Tuckertown dam and reservoir upstream (N) and L. Tillary downsteam (S).
