Berryessa Lake, reservoir (328 sq mi/850 sq km), Napa co., central Calif., Putah Creek, just W of Berryessa Peak (3,057 ft/932 m), 19 mi/31 km W of Davis; 38°31'N 122°06'W. Max. capacity 1,902,086 acre-ft. Extends N-S. Formed by Monticello Dam (304 ft/93 m high), built (1957) by the Bureau of Reclamation for irrigation, water supply, flood control, and recreation.
