C. W. McConaughy, Lake, reservoir (50 sq mi/130 sq km), Keith co., W central Nebr., on North Platte R., c.50 mi/80 km W of North Platte; 27 mi/43 km long, average width 2 mi/3.2 km; 41°13'N 101°40'W. Max. capacity 2,000,000 acre-ft. Formed by Kingsley Dam (earthfill; 162 ft/49 m high, c.1 mi/1.6 km thick at base), built (1941) for power generation and irrigation. Water is diverted through conduit and canal to Sutherland Reservoir and power plant on South Platte R. (30 mi/48 km SE). L. C.W. McConaughy and L. Ogallala state recreation areas here.
