Asunción Ixtaltepec (ah-soon-see-ON iks-TAHL-te-pek), town (1990 pop. 7,240), in SE Oaxaca, Mexico, 6 mi/10 km SE of Ciudad Ixtepec, and 6 mi/10 km NW of Juchitáh de Zaragoza; 16°30'N 95°09'W. Located on Isthmus of Tehuantepec on banks of Juchitan R. This road is one on the Isthmus that links Coazacoalcos and Salina Cruz. Agr. (corn; figs; cattle).
