Agr. area (hogs, cattle, poultry; burley tobacco, hay, alfalfa, soybeans, wheat, corn); oil and gas wells, hardwood timber, stone quarries. Some mfg. (especially clothing) at Glasgow. Part of Mammoth Cave Natl. Park in NW corner; Diamond Caverns and Crystal Onyx Cave also in NW; other limestone caves in co., esp. in North Barren R. L. reservoir and State Resort Park on SW boundary. Formed 1798.
