split (adj., n., v.)

Most of this word’s uses are Standard, but two deserve comment: the sense of the verb meaning “to leave suddenly or quickly,” as in Fred and I split [the scene] and went for coffee, is somewhat dated slang, as is the British sense meaning “to inform on, or to turn in an accomplice.” But the noun meaning “a small bottle of champagne or other wine or a soft drink containing one serving” is Standard English, although a few commentators still want it limited to Conversational levels and their written imitations.  1
