decide (v.)

is both transitive, as in They will decide the question this week, and intransitive. The intransitive verb can combine with several prepositions: against, as in I decided against calling him; for, as in The judge decided for the prosecution; on and upon, as in I haven’t been able to decide on [upon] a moderator; between and among, as in She’ll have to decide between [among] us; about, as in Only yesterday did she decide about going; and in favor of, as in The jury decided in favor of the defendant. All these are Standard.  1
