CONSERVATIVES IN LANGUAGE MATTERS
favor conservative usage. They usually seem mature, are middle-aged or older, and typically have considerable social, political, and economic power. They often hold key editorial and publishing positions (or they have held them), and they are frequently authors, speakers, and editors of reputation.
