debris, débris (n.)
We spell this word today both with and without the acute accent, but more frequently without. Several pronunciations are in divided usage: di-BREE, DAI-BREE, and (rarely) DAI-bree. The British use the last and one other, DAI-BREE. The word means the bits and pieces left from destruction, rubble.
