Young, Mahonri Mackintosh
 
 
(mhn´r) (KEY) , 1877–1957, American sculptor, painter, and etcher, b. Salt Lake City, studied at the Art Students League and at Julian’s Academy, Paris; grandson of Brigham Young. His statuettes of laborers, cowboys, and prizefighters and his larger works show strength and simplicity and fine workmanship. In the Metropolitan Museum are the bronzes Stevedore and Man with Pick. He also made the Sea Gull Monument in Salt Lake City, Utah, and a statue of Brigham Young for the Capitol rotunda in Washington, D.C.
