or Sunchon (sn´chôn´) (KEY) , city (1995 pop. 249,241), South Jeolla (Cholla) prov., SW South Korea. It is a transportation, administrative, agricultural, and service center. It is the site of the Songgwang Temple, one of South Korea’s three largest Buddhist temples.
