(sä´dôvä) (KEY) , Ger. Sadowa, village, N central Czech Republic, in Bohemia, near Hradec Králové. It was the site of a decisive Prussian victory over the Austrians in 1866, during the Austro-Prussian War. The engagement is also known as the battle of Königgrätz, from the German name for Hradec Králové.
