(zhäN-m sh l´ môr ´) (KEY) , 17411814, French draftsman and engraver, called Moreau le jeune. He is noted for his charming illustrations of the work of Voltaire, Molière, and Rousseau and for his admirable engravings of court masques and fetes. His brother, Louis Gabriel Moreau, 17401806, called Moreau laîné, was a notable landscape painter, watercolorist, and etcher. His Coteaux de Mendon is in the Louvre. |
