(h´l-k´´, hl´yk) (KEY) , city (1990 pop. 43,704), Hampden co., S central Mass., on the Connecticut River; settled 1745, inc. 1873. The city has varied manufactures including printed materials, medical supplies, envelopes, metal products, electronic goods, and chemicals. Mt. Holyoke College and a U.S. air force base are nearby.
