(gäbrô´vô) (KEY) , town (1993 pop. 75,999), N central Bulgaria, in the foothills of the Balkan Mts. It is Bulgaria’s chief textile center, producing clothes, leather goods, and textile machinery. The town developed as a strategic point on the northern approaches to Shipka Pass and now stands on a highway running through the pass.
