(f r ´zäbäd´´) (KEY) , town (1991 pop. 270,536), Uttar Pradesh state, N central India. It is Indias chief producer of glass bangles. Electrical, leather, and cotton goods are also manufactured. Firozabad is the administrative center of a district that grows cotton and grain. An ancient city on the site was destroyed by Muslims in the 16th cent. and rebuilt by Mughal emperor Akbar (reigned 15561605). |
