Firozabad
 
 
(fr´zäbäd´´) (KEY) , town (1991 pop. 270,536), Uttar Pradesh state, N central India. It is India’s chief producer of glass bangles. Electrical, leather, and cotton goods are also manufactured. Firozabad is the administrative center of a district that grows cotton and grain. An ancient city on the site was destroyed by Muslims in the 16th cent. and rebuilt by Mughal emperor Akbar (reigned 1556–1605).
