town (1991 pop. 54,116), Sefton metropolitan district, NW England, on Liverpool Bay. Formed in 1937 from the urban districts of Great Crosby and Waterloo-with-Seaforth, Crosby is primarily residential. The towns history dates back more than 1,000 years. The Merchant Taylors School for boys was founded in 1620.
