(bûr´j z) (KEY) , 182781, English architect. An ardent proponent of Victorian medievalism, he was prominent in the Gothic revival. Burges is known for his designs for Cork Cathedral (1862) and Trinity College, Hartford, Conn., and for the rebuilding of Cardiff Castle (1865). |
