NOUN:1. A group of things gathered haphazardly: agglomeration, bank1, cumulus, drift, hill, mass, mess, mound, mountain, pile, shock2, stack, tumble. See ORDER. 2. Informal. A great deal: abundance, mass, mountain, much, plenty, profusion, wealth, world. Informal : barrel, lot, pack, peck2, pile. Regional : power, sight. See BIG. 3. Informal. An indeterminately great amount or number. Often used in plural: jillion, million (often used in plural), multiplicity, ream, trillion. Informal : bushel, gob1 (often used in plural), load (often used in plural), lot, oodles, passel, peck2, scad (often used in plural), slew, wad, zillion. See BIG.
VERB:1. To make or become full; put as much into as can be held: charge, fill, freight, load, pack, pile. See FULL. 2. To fill to overflowing: lade, load, pile. See FULL. 3. To put into a disordered pile: bank1, drift, hill, lump1, mound, pile (up), stack. See ORDER. 4. To give in great abundance: lavish, rain, shower. See BIG, GIVE.
