VERB:1. To make (something) seem greater than is actually the case: exaggerate, hyperbolize, inflate, magnify, overstate. Idioms: blow up out of proportion, lay it on thick, stretch the truth. See INCREASE. 2. To exploit (another) by charging too much for something: fleece. Slang : clip1, gouge, nick, rip off, scalp, skin, soak. Idioms: make someone pay through the nose, take someone for a ride , take someone to the cleaners . See HONEST.
